When we identify the correct part, we go by the operator’s serial plate, which lists the model and sometimes the revision number, then measure center-to-center distance on the mounting holes. FAAC has revised the mounting footprint on some swing-arm models over the years, and a bracket for an older 400 series will not line up on a 390 unless you slot the holes, which we won’t do. That’s a safety failure waiting to happen. For OEM versus aftermarket: FAAC’s factory brackets are decent mild steel with a powder-coat finish, and quality aftermarket weld plates fabricated locally in stainless are genuinely better for Long Beach’s coastal air. Signs Your FAAC Welding & Fabrication Is Failing

• The gate sags at the hinge side and drags the wheel hard. The weld or the hinge plate is starting to pull away from the column. You’ll see rust staining at the weld joint and a visible gap that opens and closes as the gate travels.
• The operator moves but the gate hesitates or stutters mid-travel. A broken weld on the swing-arm bracket lets the arm flex under load, so the hydraulics are fighting movement instead of controlling it. The flex point eventually becomes a snap point.
• You hear a metallic pop followed by the gate slamming or swinging free. That’s the sound of a weld failing completely. The gate leaf is now unsupported at that point, and as security failures go, this is the one you fix before nightfall.
